A Chat with Mrs. Chrisman...
This week marked the end of our 2nd quarter. It is so hard to believe that half of the school year is already over! As we head into the second half of the year, please continue to work with your child to embrace the importance of reading 20 minutes every night. We celebrate our January READ 20 day on Tuesday. Students should wear their READ 20 t-shirts. You may also want to ask your child how his/her school supplies are holding up. Are there things that need to be replenished? Your help with this would be greatly appreciated.
This upcoming week I will be visiting every classroom to talk about our school Interest Fair. I hope the students come home excited about the fair! It is a great opportunity for families to work together on a project that the student can take the lead on. There is information regarding the Interest Fair later in the newsletter. Thank you for your continued support!

Testing and Registration Neenah Joint School District is in the process of screening and evaluating students who would benefit from participating in one of our Magnet Classes - a 4/5 class at Lakeview Elementary, a 6th grade class at Horace Mann, and a 7/8 class at Shattuck Middle School. These classes are a component of our Gifted and Talented Program for High Ability students. The Magnet Classes serve eligible students from all schools in the District. Students benefiting from Magnet Classes are those who have demonstrated very high levels of intellectual ability. The Magnet Classes are designed to offer students opportunities to work at a greater depth or at a faster pace than in the regular education setting. To learn more about the NJSD Magnet Classes, please attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. in Shattuck Auditorium. As a result of increased interest, enrollment caps have been established for Magnet Classes of 2015-16. Testing for Magnet Class placement will take place in March, the week prior to Spring Break. All available spots will be filled through this test session. Additional testing for Magnet Class placement will take place in the summer, but if enrollment caps have been reached through the March testing, qualifying students will be put on the ranked waiting list until a spot becomes available. Magnet test registrations will be accepted between January 26, 2015 and March 6, 2015. To sign your child up for Magnet testing, go to the NJSD website (www.neenah.k12.wi.us) after January 26th, then click on the link for Magnet Test Information and Registration. Test registrations will not be accepted after March 6, 2015. Check out Mrs. McMahon's
