Alliance Families:
On Wednesday, September 30th, at 6:15 p.m., Alliance will hold a volunteer orientation meeting in Mrs. Connor’s classroom. This meeting is for parents who have not attended an Alliance volunteer orientation before and who are interested in volunteering in the classroom this year. The short presentation will cover the variety of volunteer opportunities as well as what to expect as a parent volunteer in the Montessori classroom.
Important: Parents who plan to volunteer in the classroom or attend field trips must fill out a background check form each year. Before beginning a volunteer routine in the classroom, all parent volunteers are expected to sign a volunteer contract and fill out a background check form. For parents who have attended an orientation in the past, you can pick up a copy of the volunteer contract and a background check form outside the school office or contact this year’s education coordinator, Kelly Ellington. If you have any questions about the volunteer orientation, please contact Kelly Ellington ([email protected] or 450-6398). Alliance classrooms benefit from our parent volunteers, and we look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday, September 30!

NJSD Parent Connect Convention:
Ever wish parenting came with a manual? Ever wonder if you reprimanded your son too much or not enough? Ever wish your daughter had a mute button? Ever wonder how other parents do it all ... especially the parents who make it seem so frustratingly easy?!?!
We all want to be better parents, have better families, and raise the best kids we possibly can, but sometimes we just aren't sure what we're doing! I'm a pretty good parent, I think, but I could use any help I can get. Good parenting isn't always easy, and we could all learn/do more.
That's why we began the Parent's Connect Conference (PCC.) We created the PCC to bring parents, teachers, and community members together ... to talk, to share, and to learn. This year we have a great group of speakers volunteering their time, and we're excited to bring elementary teachers and parents from around the district together for this year's PCC.
Registration for the PCC is online, and you can link to it HERE, or in the NJSD Quick Links at the district's home page (neenah.k12.wi.us.)
Join us on October 6th, from 5:30 - 7:30, please. We look forward to meeting you. Click here for more information.

Roosevelt and Alliance Garden Club:
The first Garden Club meeting will be Thursday, September 17th. We will be joining the Wilson Elementary and Shattuck Middle School Garden Clubs at Wilson School immediately after school on that day to meet other gardeners, tour their garden, and have some garden refreshments. People can meet us in front of Wilson School at 3:15 pm.
Then, we'll meet with just our Garden Club the following Thursday, September 24, after school in Ms. Rossing's room to talk about what we saw and learned, and to work in our own garden a little (food needs to get picked!).
People can contact Ms. Rossing at [email protected] or Jami Severstad at [email protected] for more information.

Building Security:
Due to security concerns, the front door will remained locked at the end of the day. If parents have a meeting scheduled with a teacher after school hours, they should buzz into the office and Mrs. Akkala will open the door. If parents do not have a scheduled meeting, they should wait for their child outside.
The reason for this is to keep our kids as safe as possible. When the door is open, anyone is able to enter the building while students are still on site. It can create an unsafe situation. This new procedure will also help with the congestion in the hallways while students are getting ready to go home. This procedure will make our building's procedures consistent with the other elementary buildings in the district.
Thank you, in advance, for your help and understanding. I appreciate your continued support.

If you are interested in being a substitute for our playground or lunchroom supervisors please let Mrs. Chrisman know. It would be great to have a handful of names that we can call if someone were to get sick. Thank you for considering helping out our school!
